These are grouped by four themes:
Enjoy is the interpretive element of the project (on all twelve commons) at a national and local level. It includes a lively digital diary – an online film and photography-based blog – which as well as being entertaining will also help promote some of the learning outputs of the project.
Learn focuses on helping people to understand commons.
Do (on all twelve commons) is the public-facing aspect of the project and includes a variety of activities some led by commoners and stakeholders, some led by volunteers with interests such as biodiversity and archaeology, and some led by staff from partner organisations.
The Our Upland Commons project was a three-year, £3m, 25-partner project made possible by funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (thanks to National Lottery players) along with grants from Esmée Fairbairn and Garfield Weston Foundations.
Local funders were Dartmoor: South West Water, the Duchy of Cornwall, the Dartmoor Preservation Association and Devon Wildlife Trust, amongst others. Shropshire: the Millichope Foundation, amongst others. Yorkshire Dales: Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, amongst others. Lake District: the Lake District National Park Authority, amongst others.
