Update: The Dartmoor Land Use Management Demonstration Trials Have Started

“It’s taken a lot of preparation and planning to get us to this point in the DLUMG’s work, and I’m really pleased that these trials are now getting underway. They’ll give us a chance to test different management options and practical actions on the ground, and to see what actually works for people running livestock and managing the land day‑to‑day.

The trials will also help us understand how well the Dartmoor Land Use Management Group itself is working, how our agreed principles hold up in real situations, how the Land Use Framework and opportunities mapping support decision‑making, and what it really costs—in time, money, and effort—to provide the support needed if we want to make meaningful change across the moor.”

Phil Stocker, Chair, DLUMG

The Dartmoor Land Use Management Group (DLUMG) is an independently chaired advisory group, promoting cooperation and collaboration over the management of Dartmoor. FCL Facilitator Tamsin Thomas supports the group three days a week funded by the Dartmoor National Park Authority. The DLUMG will run for two years until March 2027.
