Yorkshire Dales Sheep Health Project Report
Livestock farming businesses in the uplands, and particularly those relying on less productive land on commons, are under threat from the loss of Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) and uncertainty surrounding environmental grant payments. The profitability of livestock enterprises is therefore a key driver to ensure the survival of businesses, farming communities and cultural heritage in the uplands. Working with two local trusted vets, the Farmer Network and Foundation for Common Land coordinated a 14-month project to address sheep health issues on Ingleborough and Brant Fell.
