North York Moors Graziers Group Established

The newly formed North York Moors Graziers Group (NYMGG) is already reshaping how commoning works across the moors, giving farmers a space to connect, share experience and build a stronger collective voice. As one grazier put it, “Before this project we didn’t really have a way of coming together. Now we’ve got a group where people can talk openly about the issues we’re facing.” The group has grown out of the Resilient Commoning project, which also delivered a pioneering sheep‑tracking trial and a wave of public engagement, from school visits to on‑farm demonstrations. With a constitution in place, an administrator appointed and growing interest from graziers across nine commons, NYMGG is now set to become a long‑term, farmer‑led network supporting collaboration and sustainable upland management.
