Learning visit to northern Spain by farmers from Cumbria and Dartmoor

This report documents a capacity building/learning visit to northern Spain by farmers from Cumbria and Dartmoor accompanied by people working on common land issues from within the UK. A major purpose of the visit was to promote and foster a sense of community amongst commoners, widely dispersed and yet facing similar challenges, so that we can take on our responsibility as a community for advocacy and care of a unique and precious approach to landscape and farming1 . For details of the group see Appendix 1 (unfortunately our colleague from Ireland was unable to join due to flight cancellations caused by volcanic ash eruptions). Appendix 2 gives details of the visit programme.
