Today (20th December) we received a response from the Secretary of State, George Eustice to the letter we sent him in mid- November.
In the letter Mr. Eustice acknowledged that the RPA found making payments on large commons particularly challenging. In 2015 they had to find new ways to process claims for common land and this resulted significant delays to getting the payments commoners. He states this will not be the case for 2016 payment and commoners will receive their payments much sooner than last year.
Mr Eustice also recognised there have been errors in the mapping and classification of eligible areas and the RPA is working to identify and correct these errors. They are also looking for ways to provide more information on the claim statement to help commoners be better informed about their claims.
